On our travels though Cusco to Lake Titicaca, we caught the Andean Explorer, a luxury Belmond train. The train provided the perfect backdrop to sit back admire the striking scenery of the Andes whilst sipping on a ‘Pisco’. Pisco is a brandy made from distilled, fermented grape juice, produced exclusively in Peru and Chile. In Peru, they use specific grape varieties and strict production rules, differing from other brandies by being unaged in wood and bottled at proof. Key ingredients are grapes, water, and yeast, with distinct Peruvian types using single grape varieties including Quebranta. (2016)
