Waiheke Island is only a 40-minute ferry ride from Auckland, and a haven for vineyards, olive groves and beaches scattered across the island.
We stayed on the island for a few days and visited a number of the local vineyards (there are around 30 boutique wineries on the island) including Mudbrick Vineyard, Tantalus Estate, and a memorable lunch and wine tasting at Man O’War Vineyard with its spectacular view. (2017)
